The literacy program promotes bonding from behind bars with their children. Because having a parent in prison can have a profound effect on a child’s path in life. 

The C.H.A.N.G.E program will assist the inmate and their child  and or children with bonding and  build a long lasting relationship while behind bars. The staff and volunteers of Its Ok 2B Different will record the mothers and fathers read a book to their children. After recording the parent will be allowed to record a short message. Once the recording has been complete. The staff will take the book and the cassette and mail it to their children. The children will receive a copy of a recording and a new book a total of 6 times while the parent is in the program.The prison storybook program is the very first of it's kind  being introduced in the State of Nevada prison system.

Volunteers

The volunteers will be trained and go through an background check to be able to participate in this program. After successfully passing the background check and training. The volunteer will then go to assigned institutions. The volunteer ages ranges from 21 years of age to retirement.
